Bruno Cremer had been admitted to the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art and was part of that famous group called "Cuvee 1952", one that included Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jean-Pierre Marielle and Jean Rochefort.
He started the theater in 1953 and there was no indication that he would make a career on camera, with 84 films. He turned to renowned directors like Costa-Gavras, Claude Lelouch, Claude Sautet, but Luchino Visconti and William Friedkin for the American version of The Wages of Fear where he resumed the role played by Charles Vanel in the film by Henri-Georges Clouzot. He also starred in the first movie directed by the Dardenne brothers, Fout; was in 1987.
Friends of Georges Simenon will remember the man affable and somewhat shy they had met at a session of homage to Georges Simenon held November 23, 2002 at the Academy Royal French Language and Literature in Belgium. There had been interviewed by his secretary perpetual, Jacques De Decker.
